In 2016, she participated in the BET reality TV show, Top Actor Africa. She managed to reach the top 5 in the competition but failed to win the competition.

Shamilla is pretty fond of ink art and has got a number of tattoos including coordinates of the place she was born at. She got her first ink art at the age of 20.

To prepare for her role in Amaza, she decided to take surfing lessons at Gary’s Surf School in Muizenberg.

She wanted to become an actress from a very young age and while in high school, she appeared in several school productions.
