Singles-only festival is coming to London but there's a catch to buying tickets

A new festival aimed at single people is set to come to London later this year, bringing together a whole bunch of people looking for love. Brought to life by the new dating experiment and app, Pear, singletons will gather at PearFest in July.

Due to be hosted at Urban Oasis in South West London, according to Time Out, PearFest is calling itself the ‘world’s largest singles festival’. However, there are a number of details that are limited - mainly because the ‘experiment’ is a complete secret to outsiders.

PearFest isn’t exactly a festival you can just buy a ticket for, that would be far too easy. To join thousands of other singles, you’ll have to pay a one-off participation fee where you’ll be bestowed with your pear ring, as well as access to the festival

The exact dates and line-up of the festival are yet to be announced.

So what is the experiment all about? After you’ve forked out your one-off payment of £19.99, you’re sent three pear rings in a luminous blue-green to be worn in a subtle way to identify your relationship status.

The idea is that no matter where you are, on the train, at the gym, on holiday, out at a restaurant, or simply just out for a stroll, the pear ring identifies you to another user. 100 per cent of your one-off payment goes to expanding the social experiment globally.

Currently, the dating app is live in the UK, the US, Germany, Canada and Australia. Alongside the rings, you’ll be given a membership number, invites to exclusive events in your city - and that all-important ticket to PearFest. Pear describes their ring as the ‘opposite of an engagement ring’ as it’s designed for every single person out there.
